An elevator was initially designed to be small. Additional requirements for a larger elevator were only defined later – with the familiar consequences: redesign, additional time and rising costs. What could easily have been solved at the outset became complex and expensive later in the project.

Cases like this make it clear: a structured approach to requirements is not a “nice-to-have” but a decisive success factor.
