Far-reaching changes and new requirements set by the German federal government for achieving “climate neutrality by 2045” are already shaping real estate development, including within the field of airport infrastructure. Innovative ideas are both required and actively promoted.
Our guest speaker from Stuttgart Airport presented the strict requirements for the sustainable development of airport infrastructure, as well as its new, ambitious, and strategic orientation aimed at achieving the goal of “climate protection by 2040.”
To reach this target, Stuttgart Airport has developed the Energy and Climate Master Plan. One of the greatest potentials identified lies within the airport’s real estate portfolio. A key prerequisite for both new construction and refurbishment projects is the determination of CO₂ emissions through a CO₂ balance assessment, which is subsequently translated into specific construction projects via a structured requirements catalogue.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our guest speaker, Dipl.-Ing. Architecture Samuel Ghosh (Head of Structural Engineering, Stuttgart Airport), for the highly insightful contributions and valuable insights into this flagship project at Stuttgart Airport.
As sustainability consultants, we plan to continue our webinar series on “Climate Neutrality 2045” and on how the resulting insights can be transferred to other projects. We will inform you in due course.
